Goodbye, Mr. Chips debuts in the UK

Gordon Getty’s opera Goodbye, Mr. Chips, based on James Hilton’s novella, received its English debut on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in the town of Fordingbridge, not far from the opera’s setting. The story takes place at Brookfield, a fictitious boarding school in east England. The film of the opera was screened at Fordingbridge’s Regal Cinema. This was the first of a number of upcoming screenings in towns and cities throughout England and Scotland, including Wallingford, Edinburgh, Yeovil, Chew Stoke, Barnt Green, Rossendale, Schroon Lake, Chaddesley Corbett, New Deer, Bewdley, and St. Helens.
