LINER NOTES

The Old Man in the Night” is “one of the longest poems I’ve ever written,” the longest of this album’s offerings, and perhaps the most generous showcase of Getty’s multi-talents. “The poem is gentle and reflective throughout,” he says about this pictorial, arboreal interchange between two men at the opposite ends of their lives, both of which Getty, by rights, claims to be. Full orchestra and chorus are engagingly deployed in the telling of the tale.
