Young People’s Chorus of New York City performs Young America

On March 16, 2026, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City performed Gordon Getty’s Young America at their gala concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall. The piece is a musical setting for chorus and orchestra of poems by Getty and Stephen Vincent Benét. The program, which celebrated America’s 250th birthday with music ranging from classical and Broadway to Motown and pop, featured 450 young choristers led by Founder and Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez and Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez, with choreography by Jacquelyn Bird. Also appearing on the program was Joyce DiDonato, YPC’s 2026 Artistic Honoree. The chorus is slated to reprise Young America at Festival Napa Valley in July.
